Crowdfunder: Carolina Beristain of Beristain Clothing

Campaign type: We’re pre-selling a product that is in development

Campaign link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1459451186/beristain-clothing?ref=user_menu

Goal: $8,000

Progress: $5,000

Product or service: Beristain Clothing is a company that empowers women by providing them with jobs that will allow them to make a difference in the world. Many Mexican women wake up every morning with little to no job choices available to them and so they struggle to support their families. Beristain Clothing exists to help provide them with a job opportunity and a better life for their families.

Anecdote: The last year Oaxaca Mexico had suffered an earthquake 8.4 most families lost everything. We went to visit them to give them jobs. One of the women told us that she has to wake up every morning to make tortilla and what she earns is 10 dollar in a day. (This is close to the minimum wage per hour here in the US.) This is something she does both to have enough money for food and for her son’s education. What motivates us is to be able to help Cynthia and many more women like her.
