JB Dondolo, a nonprofit named for the father of the founder, Lumbie Mlambo. The organization is working to improve health outcomes at the Igusi Clinic. One of the projects completed was to provide a water filtration system.
Prior to completion of the system, the clinic lacked clean water–imagine trying to operate a medical facility without a source of clean water.
Lumbie, working with development director Ronda Bowen, raised almost $10,000 on CaringCrowd. Almost half of that amount came from a match from Johnson & Johnson.
JB Dondolo recently launched a fresh CaringCrowd campaign to replace broken and rusty pipes at the clinic in Igusi.

What is the purpose of your crowdfunding campaign?
To replace old, rusty and busted water pipes with new ones at the Igusi Clinic.
What has been your experience using CaringCrowd?
We’ve been very fortunate to have all donations matched by Johnson & Johnson. From the funds we raised, we were able to have the sand and water samples collected and tested in the lab by the National University of Science and Technology (NUST). With the lab results, NUST was able to suggest a filtration system appropriate for the area. We purchased the system and installed it. Then we retested the water with NUST and the water was found to be clean and safe for consumption.
We’ve also used the funds to renovate Igusi Clinic. We replaced the doors, windows, roof, repaired cracks, painted the entire clinic, mothers-in-waiting cottage, kitchen, and nurse cottages. Also, we fenced the clinic, installed signage and gated it.
We are currently installing a shed around the filtration system to keep animals and people safe.
Matching funds. It made it a lot easier to raise say $5k (example) because we only had to raise half of that. Therefore, we were able to raise funds fast.
How much have you raised on CaringCrowd? We’ve raised over $10K since we started working with CaringCrowd.

JB Dondolo, Inc. non-profit organization primarily exists to provide charitable services worldwide to the impoverished communities. Our focus is on those markets that cannot afford the simple, basic necessities.
The foundation was founded in November of 2012. The foundation is named after the late father, JB Dondolo, an orphan, farmer and humanitarian advocate, whose values and principles on giving continue to inspire his children, friends, and families across the world. JB Dondolo played a critical role in the fight against poverty. Dondolo’s children saw the need to form a foundation in honor of their father so his legacy of good deeds continues.
The company provides charitable services to the needy by promoting and developing programs and projects that stimulate growth in low-income areas; projects that have been thought of but not started or started but not finished due to certain circumstances. Our interest is in those projects that promote community growth and a better future.
We hope to finish what you start. The truth is that regardless of whether a nation is industrialized or not, the needy are everywhere. Many people require aid and support around the world. Private and public agencies are there but possess limited resources and cannot provide for every community in need of assistance or basic necessities. This leaves a large segment of the low-income population with unmet needs.
At JB Dondolo, Inc., we value every effort with the understanding that even the smallest effort counts as long as a good deed is done for the less fortunate and progress is measurable It takes a village to raise a child, but it will take all of us working together to save lives. We value the partnerships and connections we make. We look forward to working with you to accomplish our mission.
