For You!

Superpowers for Good is for you if you are or aspire to be a changemaker. What is a changemaker? If you are working to make the world a better place, you are one.

Some changemakers lead nonprofits, others invest capital as impact investors (in large or small amounts), while others are social entrepreneurs, activists, volunteers or educators. If you want to change the world, you’re in the right place.

From Me

I’m Devin Thorpe, a bestselling author who calls himself a champion of social good. I travel extensively as a volunteer doing service, as a new-media journalist finding heroes and as a speaker sharing what I’ve learned. As a Forbes Contributor, I covered social entrepreneurship and impact investing, reaching an audience of over 2 million people. I’ve produced over 1,200 episodes of my show featuring luminary change agents, including Bill Gates. My books—read over 1 million times—help people do more good. I’ve helped nonprofits raise millions of dollars via crowdfunding. In all this, I draw on my experience as an investment banker, CFO, treasurer and U.S. Senate staffer. I earned an MBA at Cornell. Frequently finding myself on airplanes, I’m glad to be short enough for the middle seat.

Chandan Saha also produces some of our content. He is the Event Technology Manager for The Super Crowd, Inc., a public benefit corporation, which produces the Superpowers for Good show and the SuperCrowd events.

How and When You’ll Get Content

Each week, we typically send out five newsletters via email.

On Monday, we share a post with new impact crowdfunding offerings. We segment the list into four shorter lists:

  1. Social Impact

  2. Women Founders

  3. Minority Founders

  4. LGBTQ Founders

So, yes, one company could potentially be listed four times, but we don’t want anyone to miss a relevant company. Some investors focus on the impact of the company, while others focus on the founders they support. You choose!

On Tuesday and Thursday, I send out episodes of the streaming television show with thoughtful write-ups about the inspiring changemakers who join me. The write-up hits your inbox with the video embedded. You can also subscribe to the podcast on your favorite platform: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Tune In or YouTube.

Each episode features an in-depth discussion about the work our guest is doing, followed by a discussion of their superpowers and how those strengths impact the work they’re doing. Finally, we talk about how everyone can develop the same strength.

On Wednesday, I send out a written post about a topic or issue that relates to changemaking. These posts range from heartfelt to informative. A typical post is under 1,000 words, making it a quick read.

Finally, on Saturday, we share a weekly digest. You have the easy option to subscribe only to this digest and still have access to the other.

Over the years, I’ve posted thousands of articles about changemakers, and over 1,000 episodes of the podcast. You can find them all here on Substack. Just browse or search at superpowers4good.com.What You’ll Learn

You’ll learn about the work other changemakers are doing and the leadership skills they use to do it. Those superpowers translate well from one discipline to another. Empathy, patience and optimism are just as important for investors as for educators. Whether your focus is eradicating poverty, improving global health or reversing climate change, you’ll find valuable insights here that will help you accomplish your goals.

Our focus is narrowing slightly to shine a light on impact investment opportunities open to all ordinary, everyday investors to invest via crowdfunding in ways that support community builders, social entrepreneurs and diverse founders.
